Dress Code

Clubhouse

Gentlemen and boys are to remove their hats when entering the Clubhouse. During daytime, golf and tennis attire are acceptable in all areas of the Clubhouse. In the evenings, gentlemen are expected to wear coats and ties for special evening events, with equally appropriate attire for ladies. Jackets are not required for Pub Nights, Club Nights, or Wednesday Night Dinners after bridge.

Golf Course

The following appropriate golf attire is required at all times on the golf course and the practice facilities.

Golf shoes with “soft spikes” or spike less rubber nodes are preferred, and shoes with metal spikes are discouraged, but boots, dress shoes and heeled shoes are not permitted on the golf course or putting green at any time.

Tennis attire is not acceptable on the golf course or practice facilities.

Gentlemen

Polo-style shirts with collars and sleeves must be worn, with shirts tucked into pants/shorts at all times. Shorts must be golf-styled or golf-specific, and Bermuda-length. Unacceptable attire includes: cargo pants or shorts, athletic shorts, bathing suits, sweat pants, blue jeans, overly baggy pants or any shorts not within 4 inches of the knee. Hats are to be worn bill forward.

Ladies

Polo-style shirts with collars, with or without sleeves, may be worn, and shirts without collars are acceptable provided they have sleeves. Shorts and skirts must be golf-styled or golf-specific and adhere to the “fingertip” length rule. Unacceptable attire includes: graphic t-shirts, tank tops, halter-tops, leggings, athletic shorts, sweat pants, blue jeans, cargo pants and short shorts. Hats must be worn bill forward.

Tennis Courts

Appropriate tennis whites (colored trim acceptable) are required for all players 16 and over. While tennis whites are preferred for all players, junior players (age 15 and under) may wear a white top with any color skirt or shorts. In order to maintain the integrity of Ekwanok’s clay courts, all players must wear designated tennis shoes. These need not be white. Running shoes, or other types of non-tennis shoes, are not permitted on the courts at any time. Golf attire is not acceptable on the tennis courts. Leggings may be worn, but only under tennis skirts or shorts. Leggings worn under long tops are not acceptable.

Croquet

Clothing must be white (minimum colored trim only). Shirt and pants restrictions are the same as those for golf, and shorts and skirts must adhere to the "fingertip" rule. Only tennis and other smooth rubber soled shoes may be worn.

Unacceptable Attire

At no time are the following items acceptable anywhere within the Club: blue denim, t-shirts, tank tops, jogging attire, spandex, sweatshirts, short shorts, cut-offs or clothing carrying commercial or inappropriate messages.

Changing

The Clubhouse locker rooms are the only acceptable places for changing clothes and shoes.
